A Trulock and Son case of circa 1830. It's a fine case made by master craftsmen and constructed of the now almost extinct Cuban mahogany, that which is on the Cites List of endangered species. It originally housed No. 1583, a double barrelled percussion cap muzzleloading shotgun of circa 14-bore with 29 inch length barrels. In common with British makers of best quality sporting guns, of which the now lost No 1583 most certainly would have been, the Trulock business recorded the gun serial number twice within the case.
